Common questions

Things hosts ask before they apply.

What does October pay?
Hosts in your region typically earn GBP 30–60 per hosted session, paid monthly. Exact rate is set when we approve your application.
Do I need to be registered with a professional body?
Yes — clinicians need current registration with their relevant local board (HPCSA, BACP, BPS, AHPRA, APA, etc). Coaches need an ICF or EMCC credential or equivalent qualification.
How many hours can I host?
You set the pace. Some hosts do one session a week, others do several a day. There's no minimum and no exclusivity — your private practice continues alongside.
Where do clients come from?
October is the mental health platform for many of the largest enterprise customers in the world. Sessions are open to their employees — you don't do client acquisition.
How long does review take?
We aim to respond to every application within 5 business days. If you're a fit we send a secure onboarding link to set up banking, ID and the host agreement.
Are sessions therapy or education?
Sessions are educational and group-based, not 1:1 therapy. You host within your own scope of practice — we never put clinicians in situations outside it.
What about supervision and indemnity?
You host on your own scope of practice and indemnity. We help with safeguarding processes and have an internal clinical lead available if a session needs escalation.
Can I refer colleagues and earn for it?
Yes — once you're hosting, every host you refer who completes onboarding earns you a referral reward. Details on your /referrals page after sign-in.
About hosting on October in United Kingdom

A closer look at hosting for global teams.

Hosting from the UK for enterprise audiences

October Health works with enterprise customers across the UK, Europe, the US and beyond — meaning UK-based clinicians and coaches can host for audiences that span well beyond NHS commissioning and private fee-paying clients. For counsellors, psychotherapists, psychologists and accredited coaches building (or running) a private practice, hosting is a way to do more of the work you love without the marketing overhead that limits 1:1 caseloads.

UK-time sessions tend to land cleanly in the working-day windows of European, Middle East and African employers, with overlap into early-morning US East Coast slots. That gives UK hosts unusually wide schedule flexibility.

What hosting looks like for UK practitioners

A typical session is 50 minutes, live, with audio or video and an interactive chat. Attendees are employees at organisations October partners with — sometimes ten people, sometimes two hundred, depending on topic and employer. You prepare a short outline, run the session as you would a small group in your own practice, and respond to questions in the chat as you go.

Topics span the breadth of work UK clinicians already do day to day: anxiety, low mood, burnout, sleep, perinatal mental health, ADHD and neurodivergence, grief, identity and adjustment, men's mental health, parenting, and relationships at work. Sessions are educational and group-based — not 1:1 therapy — and you host strictly within your professional scope.

Who we approve in the UK

We approve practitioners with current BACP, BPS, UKCP, NCPS, BABCP or HCPC registration in their relevant clinical category, and ICF or EMCC-credentialed coaches with equivalent qualification. Both registered counsellors and psychotherapists, and chartered or HCPC-registered psychologists, are equally welcome.

Beyond credentials, we look for clinicians who hold groups well, work confidently with non-clinical employer audiences, and have a clear sense of the topic areas they want to host. UK-trained CBT therapists, EMDR practitioners, perinatal specialists and ADHD-informed clinicians are in particular demand.

How earnings work for UK hosts

UK hosts typically earn £35–£90 per hosted session, paid monthly in GBP into your UK bank account. The exact rate is set when your application is approved and reflects your registration, experience and specialty.

October handles invoicing and payment. As an independent contractor in the UK, you are responsible for declaring your hosting income through self-assessment — straightforward if you already submit returns for a private practice, and well within the gross-income thresholds for sole-trader operation. Hosting income does not interfere with employed NHS or institutional roles.
