Common questions

Things hosts ask before they apply.

What does October pay?
Hosts in your region typically earn USD 30–60 per hosted session, paid monthly. Exact rate is set when we approve your application.
Do I need to be registered with a professional body?
Yes — clinicians need current registration with their relevant local board (HPCSA, BACP, BPS, AHPRA, APA, etc). Coaches need an ICF or EMCC credential or equivalent qualification.
How many hours can I host?
You set the pace. Some hosts do one session a week, others do several a day. There's no minimum and no exclusivity — your private practice continues alongside.
Where do clients come from?
October is the mental health platform for many of the largest enterprise customers in the world. Sessions are open to their employees — you don't do client acquisition.
How long does review take?
We aim to respond to every application within 5 business days. If you're a fit we send a secure onboarding link to set up banking, ID and the host agreement.
Are sessions therapy or education?
Sessions are educational and group-based, not 1:1 therapy. You host within your own scope of practice — we never put clinicians in situations outside it.
What about supervision and indemnity?
You host on your own scope of practice and indemnity. We help with safeguarding processes and have an internal clinical lead available if a session needs escalation.
Can I refer colleagues and earn for it?
Yes — once you're hosting, every host you refer who completes onboarding earns you a referral reward. Details on your /referrals page after sign-in.
Do you provide supervision?
No — you host within your own scope of practice. Sessions are educational and group-based, not 1:1 therapy.
About hosting on October

For psychologists who want reach beyond the room.

Hosting for psychologists

Private practice for psychologists has a natural ceiling: each hour billed is each hour worked, and clinical caseloads are capped by emotional bandwidth long before they are capped by demand. October Health gives registered psychologists a complementary channel — live, group-based educational sessions for employees at enterprise organisations — where you can do meaningful psychoeducational work at scale without losing time to client acquisition, billing or claim chasing.

Hosting fits around an existing practice. You set your own schedule, you keep full control of the topics you host on, and there is no exclusivity. October handles audience, platform, scheduling and payment.

What psychologists host on

Sessions are educational and group-based, framed for working adults. Psychologists on October most often host on topics where their clinical depth genuinely raises the quality of the room: anxiety and worry, depression and low mood, trauma-informed wellbeing, sleep, ADHD and neurodivergence in workplaces, perinatal mental health, grief and bereavement, identity and life transitions, performance and burnout.

A typical session is 50 minutes, live, with audio or video and interactive chat. You prepare a short outline, share what you would share with a small group in your own practice, and answer questions in the chat as they come up. Attendance ranges from intimate groups to several hundred, depending on topic and employer.

Scope of practice and ethics

Sessions are explicitly educational and group-based — they are not therapy. You host within your own registration's scope of practice. We do not put psychologists into 1:1 clinical situations through October, and we have safeguarding processes plus an internal clinical lead available if a session needs escalation.

Hosting income runs alongside your private practice without interference. There is no notice period or exclusivity — you can step away at any time.

Who we approve

We approve currently-registered psychologists with their relevant local board — HPCSA (clinical, counselling, educational, registered counsellor categories), BPS / HCPC chartered psychologists, PSI, AHPRA, APS, APA, CPA, provincial Canadian colleges, and equivalents elsewhere. Beyond registration we look for clinicians who can hold a group confidently, communicate clearly with a non-clinical audience, and have a clear sense of the topic areas they want to host. Specialty areas with strong demand from our enterprise customers include sleep, ADHD, perinatal mental health and trauma-informed practice.
