Common questions

Things hosts ask before they apply.

What does October pay?
Hosts in your region typically earn USD 30–60 per hosted session, paid monthly. Exact rate is set when we approve your application.
Do I need to be registered with a professional body?
Yes — clinicians need current registration with their relevant local board (HPCSA, BACP, BPS, AHPRA, APA, etc). Coaches need an ICF or EMCC credential or equivalent qualification.
How many hours can I host?
You set the pace. Some hosts do one session a week, others do several a day. There's no minimum and no exclusivity — your private practice continues alongside.
Where do clients come from?
October is the mental health platform for many of the largest enterprise customers in the world. Sessions are open to their employees — you don't do client acquisition.
How long does review take?
We aim to respond to every application within 5 business days. If you're a fit we send a secure onboarding link to set up banking, ID and the host agreement.
Are sessions therapy or education?
Sessions are educational and group-based, not 1:1 therapy. You host within your own scope of practice — we never put clinicians in situations outside it.
What about supervision and indemnity?
You host on your own scope of practice and indemnity. We help with safeguarding processes and have an internal clinical lead available if a session needs escalation.
Can I refer colleagues and earn for it?
Yes — once you're hosting, every host you refer who completes onboarding earns you a referral reward. Details on your /referrals page after sign-in.
About hosting on October

For counsellors who want reach beyond the room.

Hosting for counsellors and psychotherapists

Building a private counselling or psychotherapy practice is slow work: marketing yourself, holding a waiting list, navigating insurance or self-pay, and turning over clients as they finish work. October Health offers a parallel channel where you can do meaningful psychoeducational work at scale — live, group-based sessions for employees at enterprise organisations — alongside your existing caseload, without the marketing overhead.

You set your pace. You pick the topics. There is no exclusivity, no minimum hours, and no notice period. October handles audience, platform, scheduling and payment.

What counsellors host on

Sessions are educational and group-based, framed for working adults. Counsellors on October most often host on topics where their training in the therapeutic relationship, listening and reflection naturally raises the quality of the room: anxiety, low mood, burnout, relationship work, grief and bereavement, parenting, identity and life transitions, men's mental health, adjustment, and self-compassion.

A typical session is 50 minutes, live, with audio or video and interactive chat. You prepare a short outline, share what you would share with a small group, and respond to questions as they come up. You stay within the educational and group-based format — sessions are not 1:1 therapy.

Scope of practice and ethics

Sessions are explicitly educational. They are not therapy. You host within your accrediting body's ethical framework — BACP, NCS, IACP, ACA, PACFA, CCPA, CRPO, or your local equivalent. We do not put counsellors into 1:1 clinical situations through October. Safeguarding processes are in place, and October has an internal clinical lead available if a session needs escalation.

Who we approve

We approve currently-accredited or registered counsellors and psychotherapists with their relevant body — BACP, NCS, UKCP, NCPS, BABCP (UK); IACP, IAHIP, ICP, NAPCP (Ireland); LPC, LMHC, LCPC, LMFT, LCSW (US); CCPA, CRPO (Canada); ACA, PACFA (Australia); HPCSA registered counsellors and SACSSP social workers (South Africa); and equivalents elsewhere. Modality is open — person-centred, integrative, CBT, ACT, EMDR-informed, psychodynamic, systemic and others are all welcome — as long as you can frame your work for an educational group context.
