Common questions

Things hosts ask before they apply.

What does October pay?
Hosts in your region typically earn USD 30–60 per hosted session, paid monthly. Exact rate is set when we approve your application.
Do I need to be registered with a professional body?
Yes — clinicians need current registration with their relevant local board (HPCSA, BACP, BPS, AHPRA, APA, etc). Coaches need an ICF or EMCC credential or equivalent qualification.
How many hours can I host?
You set the pace. Some hosts do one session a week, others do several a day. There's no minimum and no exclusivity — your private practice continues alongside.
Where do clients come from?
October is the mental health platform for many of the largest enterprise customers in the world. Sessions are open to their employees — you don't do client acquisition.
How long does review take?
We aim to respond to every application within 5 business days. If you're a fit we send a secure onboarding link to set up banking, ID and the host agreement.
Are sessions therapy or education?
Sessions are educational and group-based, not 1:1 therapy. You host within your own scope of practice — we never put clinicians in situations outside it.
What about supervision and indemnity?
You host on your own scope of practice and indemnity. We help with safeguarding processes and have an internal clinical lead available if a session needs escalation.
Can I refer colleagues and earn for it?
Yes — once you're hosting, every host you refer who completes onboarding earns you a referral reward. Details on your /referrals page after sign-in.
About hosting on October in Canada

A closer look at hosting for global teams.

Hosting from Canada for global teams

October Health partners with global enterprise customers across North America and beyond. For CRPO, CCPA, OACCPP and provincial college-registered clinicians and ICF-credentialed coaches in Canada, hosting is a way to reach those employers' workforces — through live, group-based educational sessions — while running an existing private or institutional practice.

Canadian-time sessions overlap with US, UK and European working hours, giving Canada-based hosts strong schedule flexibility without needing to host outside their preferred times.

What hosting looks like for Canadian practitioners

A typical session is 50 minutes, live, with audio or video and an interactive chat. Sessions are educational and group-based — not 1:1 therapy — and run on topics Canadian clinicians work with every day: anxiety, depression, burnout, sleep, ADHD and neurodivergence, perinatal mental health, grief, identity, men's mental health, parenting and adjustment.

Because sessions are educational rather than clinical, the cross-provincial telehealth concerns that constrain Canadian private practice generally do not apply. You host within your scope of practice and refer attendees out for 1:1 care where appropriate.

Who we approve in Canada

We approve clinicians with current registration with their relevant provincial college or association — CRPO (Ontario), OPQ (Quebec), CPBC, CPO, CAP and other provincial psychology colleges; CCPA-certified counselling therapists; OACCPP, BCACC, NSCCT, NLCCT-registered counsellors; and provincial social work colleges. Mental health nurses with CNA certification in psychiatric/mental health nursing are welcome. Coaches are approved with an ICF (ACC, PCC, MCC) or EMCC credential or equivalent qualification.

Beyond credentials, we look for clinicians who hold groups confidently and frame their work for an employer audience. Bilingual (English/French) practitioners are in particular demand for our Canadian enterprise customers.

How earnings work for Canadian hosts

Canadian hosts typically earn USD 55–130 per hosted session, paid monthly in USD into your nominated bank account. Exchange to CAD is handled at your bank's rate. The exact session rate is set when your application is approved and reflects your registration, experience and specialty.

You operate as an independent contractor — October provides annual income documentation. Hosting income is reported as self-employment income on your CRA return, which most Canadian clinicians are already set up to file alongside private practice earnings.
